"Cava" is a Spanish sparkling wine .
It is considered one of the world's three major sparkling wines, along with France's Champagne and Italy's Prosecco. "Cava" means "cave" in Catalan, and it seems to have originated from the fact that caves were used to store wine in the past.
Because the wines are made from grapes grown in the warm regions of Spain, they tend to have a mild acidity and many of them have a familiar flavor.
In addition, compared to expensive champagne, its price is very reasonable. Due to its high cost performance, it is popular as a sparkling wine that can be enjoyed casually, but because it is made using the same method of secondary fermentation in the bottle as champagne, you can enjoy fine bubbles.
The main varieties used are the indigenous Spanish varieties Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada.
