The term "négociant" refers to people or companies that purchase grapes and their juice from wine growers, ferment them, and sell them. Most of them are relatively large-scale wine producers.
The wines produced by négociants are less affected by the quality of the grapes or harvest yields from year to year, like those produced by domaines and chateaux, so they can be said to be of stable quality and price.
