"Bulk wine" refers to wine that is bottled in large containers (bulk) of 150 liters or more. Importing in bulk reduces transportation costs, so there is an advantage in that it can be sold at a lower price overall, even when the cost of bottling it domestically is taken into account.
Bulk wine is imported to Japan from Chile, Australia, the United States, etc. Recently, bulk wine from New Zealand has also become available.
