Biogro is New Zealand's organic certification body.
Since its launch in 1983, the organization has provided organic certification to over 830 domestic products (including agricultural produce, livestock products, wine, etc.) and is also registered with IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Activities).
To ensure that consumers can purchase products with peace of mind, strict standards have been set for the certification, and only products that meet those standards are allowed to display the BioGro certification mark.
BioGro certification takes a total of three years, and only after passing the annual certification criteria three times in a row will the BioGro certification mark be awarded.
By the way, the first winery to receive BioGro certification was Millton Vineyards in Gisborne, North Island (1989).
