Collection: Isabel Estate Vineyards

Isabel Estate is a winery located in the Wairau Valley in the Marlborough region of New Zealand's South Island. The cool climate with long hours of sunshine and large temperature differences between day and night helps to grow grapes with excellent acidity and aroma. The well-drained gravelly soil mixed with clay provides an ideal environment for producing wines with both concentrated fruitiness and complexity.

Background of the Company's Establishment

Isabel Estate began in 1980. Founder Mike Tiller was a former pilot who spotted this land from the air while flying. Attracted by the ideal topography and climate, he and his wife Robin started growing grapes. The winery was named after Mike's mother, Isabel. In 1994, they released their first vintage under their own brand, and began to take full-scale steps as a winery that prioritizes quality.

Winemaking philosophy

Isabel Estate believes in "wine that reflects the field" and is committed to growing grapes and brewing 100% in their own fields. The high density planting and yield restrictions, which are rare even in Marlborough, allow the fruit flavor to be concentrated, and this is supported by delicate brewing that makes use of natural yeast and French oak. Isabel's style is to make wine that brings out the individuality of the land and the variety without making any unnecessary changes.

People and teams

Currently, winemaking is led by Jeremy Mackenzie, a winemaker from Marlborough. Using his experience working at a famous winery overseas, he is working on winemaking that is in tune with the local terroir. His Chardonnay has been highly praised both in New Zealand and overseas, and in recent years he has won the country's Best Winemaker Award.

Quietly but surely, a skill that is highly valued

Isabel Estate's wines are not flashy, but rather captivate drinkers with their depth of flavor and elegant structure. In particular, their Chardonnay has won the highest award in national awards for multiple vintages, and is recognized as one of Marlborough's leading wineries with a quiet presence and solid ability.
