Baseball and wine

The other day, I went to the Vantelin Dome Nagoya to watch a professional baseball exhibition game.

I decided to go on the day of the game, and there were very few tickets left, so I managed to get a seat in the outfield for the visitors. I watched the game surrounded by plastic umbrellas of Yakult fans.

What was interesting was the young man in the seat behind me who seemed to love baseball, explaining the whole thing to my friend who wasn't that knowledgeable about baseball.

friend "This is my first time at the Dome, and the artificial turf is really beautiful."

I love young people "Yes, the current artificial turf is the sixth generation, replaced two years ago. It's the first time we've used a two-tone color. It's really beautiful."

Hey! You're spitting your beer, you know way too much!

He is also very knowledgeable about players, probably at the level of reading the sports newspapers every day.

"He's in good shape for this time of year," or "The way you handled that ground ball just now was a little risky."

I was listening to the story for free from the front seat and had a grin on my face the whole time. It was just too much fun.

Professional commentary on radio and TV broadcasts is great, but commentary by experts in the audience also makes for plenty of interesting content.

On my way out, I almost paid the expert for the explanation.

By the way, every time I go to the Dome, I have a dream. That dream is...

"The Chunichi Dragons win"

(I do have a modest dream of getting into the A class this year.)

"Watching professional baseball while drinking delicious wine"

is.

No, I know that beer is the perfect accompaniment to watching baseball.

It tastes delicious when the hard-working beer sellers pour it for you, and the snacks they sell all go perfectly with beer.

But I think wine is now becoming the drink of choice for festivals, even here in Nagoya.

In fact, at a wine festival held at last year's cherry blossom viewing event, huge numbers of people lined up to buy wine, and New Zealand wines have also sold well at outdoor events I have set up stalls at in the past.

Watching sports is like a festival. It's out of the ordinary. I think it has gained enough acceptance that it can be promoted to a regular part of such occasions.

If wine sells, then of course snacks will also sell. I think if you put out prosciutto and cheese, you'll sell well.

And the best thing is that, unlike beer, it doesn't make you want to go to the bathroom.

When you're watching a baseball game at a dome, the bathrooms get crowded as soon as the opposing team starts batting. That's because of the beer.

Many people make the effort to come and see the show live, only to end up missing important scenes because they had to go to the bathroom.

In that respect, wine requires you to go to the bathroom a little less frequently.

White at the beginning, followed by rosé, and then red at the end.

Oh, it would be great if I could enjoy wine as the game progresses.

So with that in mind, I went online and searched for "Vantelin Dome" and "wine."

And then, there it is!

If you buy a "restaurant table" seat with your season ticket, food and wine will be served to you.

The price is... 950,000 yen for a set of two seats. 1,900,000 yen for a set of four seats. No good. The hurdle is too high.

Apart from that, there seems to be a wine list at the "Prime One" table, which is reserved for corporate guests.

I would like to meet the company that has booked this table. And I would like to be taken there. I would be happy to pour the wine.

Until I meet such an eccentric person, I guess I'll just have to wait for wine to appear in the shop.

Wait a minute.

Looking at the search results further...

This is a blog post I wrote three years ago.

The article was titled "Operation to Send Wine Partyers to the Baseball Stadium" and it said almost the same thing as I just wrote.

I, I haven't grown up!
