Collection: Marrow Wines NZ

MARO Wines is a wine brand created by winemaker Naoyuki Maro. Mr. Maro gained experience at a winery in Hokkaido and learned winemaking overseas, continuing his unique activities of making wine in both Japan and New Zealand.

When it's winter in Japan, New Zealand in the Southern Hemisphere enters its grape harvest season. Mr. Maro travels to New Zealand at that time to make wine using local grapes. The great appeal of MARO Wines is that by gaining experience in both Japan and New Zealand, he creates wines that cherish the unique characteristics of each region.

Two Wines Born in North Canterbury

MARO Wines' New Zealand wines are produced in North Canterbury, a cool region in the South Island. This region is known for producing white wines with beautiful acidity and delicate, complex Pinot Noirs.

Riesling is a white wine with a refreshing aroma reminiscent of green apples and citrus. On the palate, it has a crisp acidity but also a soft, expansive feel. It's not heavy, offering a clean and pleasant drinking experience. It pairs well with seafood, Japanese cuisine, salty dishes, and Asian cuisine.

Transparent and Complex Pinot Noir

"Isolated Hill Pinot Noir" is a red wine with aromas of red berries layered with calm nuances reminiscent of a forest. While light, it has a firm structure on the palate, making it a wine to be savored slowly over time.

Immediately after opening, it has a slightly tight impression, but as it breathes in the glass, its fruitiness and umami gradually unfold. This wine pairs well with tomato-based stews, dishes made with soy sauce or miso, and gently flavored meat dishes.

Savoring the Winemaker's Individuality and the Charm of the Land

MARO Wines' New Zealand wines are not flashy but subtly convey the winemaker's meticulous approach and the unique character of the land. There is a fascinating cross-border winemaking story in every bottle crafted by a Japanese winemaker who engages with New Zealand's nature alongside local colleagues.

It's a New Zealand wine known to those in the know, capable of accompanying everyday meals while also creating slightly special moments.
