I started training

Sommelier Blog

I have finally started training, one of the resolutions I made for the year on New Year's Day.

Hello, I'm Basal Metabolism Ochitaro (47 years old).

If your metabolism is slow, you will also recover more slowly from illness and injury.

I'm finally feeling better, but it will be some time before I'm back to normal.

Well, at my age, I've finally realized the obvious truth that "if you're not healthy, wine doesn't taste good."

Now that we are in the last week of January, I have finally decided to get up the courage to fulfill the promise I made to myself on New Year's Day.

However, it's not so easy to get up when you have the heavy iron ball called "laziness" hanging from your back.

But then a strong friend appeared and helped me lift it.

"We're going to do training for new employees at our gym, so would you like to come as a monitor?"

Wow, my lower back has suddenly become lighter! I feel like it!

The word "monitor" sounded fun. I was filled with anticipation of an extraordinary experience, and then the iron ball rolled down from my raised waist.

So let's do it. I'm going to start going to the gym. I'm going to keep my promise to myself in 2023. I'm going to kick a wrecking ball.

With that in mind, I rummaged through the training clothes stored in the closet.

However, what came out from the back was a crumpled Under Armour suit...

"You haven't even looked at me these past few years."

I felt like that's what he said.

Sorry, that's true.

Thinking back, there were times in the past when I felt motivated to exercise. I once threw away the iron ball and went to the gym. Twice. But both times I gave up.

The first time, I went to a gym near my house, and the second time, I went to a gym near my workplace. I thought that a convenient location was important. But it was still a complete failure.

After a period of being a good customer of the gym, "paying the membership fee even though I didn't go often," I ended up cancelling both times.

Why? Why doesn't it last?

If you don't face the reasons why you didn't continue, you probably won't be able to continue again.

However, I tend to forget things that are inconvenient for me quickly, so I can't remember the reason...

That's right, in this case, search is the answer.

Reasons for quitting gym membership

You might think it's odd to turn to Google to find out why you unsubscribed in the past.

But I consider myself a pretty average person, so I think the answer for me is probably in the average answers that Google gives.

And the enter key.

"The top reasons people quit gym membership are 'I didn't have time' at 43% and 'I got bored' at 28%."

Ah, that's right. I am a person without any personality who belongs to Google. This was the reason.

I'm sure that in the past, I used being busy at work as an excuse.

And at first, I was like, "Wow, I've never seen this equipment before! The machines are fun. I'm happy to be in the pool." I went there because it was a new experience, but I soon got used to it.

The machines and the pool were not enough to beat the iron balls tied to my waist, which gradually got heavier. And I was heading straight for the ghost membership. What a waste.

This time we must be careful not to make the same mistake again.

It's natural to be busy when you have a job. But to make it part of your routine, make sure to make an appointment for the next one when you finish. And go there even if you have to crawl. That should be fine.

In fact, since I changed my hair salon to this method, I have been able to go to the salon once a month. That's right, in my case, it's all about "making an appointment with someone."

So, how can you maintain your motivation so that you don't get bored?

This time, unlike the past, it's personal training, and the facilities are not fresh from the beginning. So, I'll go first and honestly say, "I want to keep my motivation up." All right. This should be a good way to deal with the iron ball. Third time's a charm.

Then, on the day of the reservation, I put on the armor I had ironed out and headed out.

The result is...

"I think I can get through!"

The new girl who took care of me was a black belt in judo. She was very clear and pleasant to be around.

I received a thorough counseling session before the training and was asked if I had any requests, and I answered without hesitation.

"I'm an old man who doesn't take well to praise, so please praise me if you can!"

The black belt looked at my jiggly upper arms and laughed, saying he would come up with a plan that would allow me to attend classes comfortably so that my motivation would not drop.

That's the way it should be.

When the lesson begins,

"That's great! You did it! No one has ever done this well on the first try! Well done!"

He praised me in a very casual manner.

That makes me happy, Uncle.

I'm sure you can do your best.

Odate Noritaro (47 years old) seems to be continuing to go to the gym. I will report back later.

Get healthy and drink good wine.

By the way, this is where I started going.
