Dynamic cards

Are you familiar with the term "dynamic pricing" ?

Hotel rates and airfares tend to be higher on weekends, during Golden Week, and during the Obon holidays.

On the other hand, it can be a good deal on weekdays when there is nothing going on.

This system in which prices fluctuate according to supply and demand is called dynamic pricing .

I think this is a great way to go about things, both for the users and the employees.

If you don't want to pay a high price, avoid peak seasons and make reservations on weekdays.

This way, even on weekdays when you would normally have no time, you will receive a certain number of reservations and be able to get work done.

That's great. I've always wondered if this could be introduced in restaurants.

After all, demand tends to be concentrated on weekends and the days before holidays, and we've always had the problem that it's not stable during the week.

However, it has already become commonplace for hotel rates and airfares to change prices, so it would probably seem strange if restaurants were to suddenly do the same.

If a restaurant said, "Lamb chop steak is 1,500 yen on weekends, but 1,000 yen on weekdays," people would probably think, "It's expensive on weekends!" I don't think that leaves a very good impression.

That's why many stores offer things like "happy hours."

Since it's quiet in the early hours, if you come before 6pm on weekdays you can get a glass of draft beer for 200 yen or get a free dish.

However, in the 13 years since we opened, we have never held a happy hour. I wondered if we should do it, and thought it would be better for customers to come whenever they like and take their time, so we ended up not doing it.

However, recently, while there have finally been signs of the bar industry recovering on weekends, I've been feeling increasingly concerned about getting more customers to come from Monday to Thursday.

It's the weekdays when there's nothing going on that are the funniest. And that fun feels dynamic.

I thought I'd like to do something like that, so I made this.

Bokumo stamp card

This is the ancient strategy "Stamp Card" .

Now that apps are in full swing, I thought it would be good to have something that actually exists. Because we're a small shop where you can see each other's faces, I thought an analogue approach would suit us.

I did this once about 6 or 7 years ago, and remember that it was quite well received, so this time I tried making a stamp card that was only for Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays .

This is what's inside.

If you come in Monday through Thursday and present your card, we will stamp it. Then, the next time you come in Monday through Thursday, you will receive a special gift.

And as you use it more and more, the service level will improve and you will receive more and more excellent benefits.

In the end, you will receive a free bottle of wine (New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc) for every 10 tries. What do you think? It's quite dynamic, isn't it?

(However, one thing that is a bit unfair is that the stamp is only pressed when the total amount is 4,000 yen or more per person. Sorry. It doesn't work if they don't do it like this. I hope they can forgive me for this.)

Two weeks ago, I came up with the idea of making a stamp card, worked hard on it using Illustrator last week, and had it delivered this week.

So, I was in a meeting explaining to my staff that this is how we would start.

"Ha! This is bad! This card is a complete mistake!"

I realized.

I wanted the benefits to be available from the second visit onwards, but the benefits section only says benefits from "2" onwards.

In other words, we would like to give one stamp to customers who come to the store once and say, "Next time you can use the number 1 bonus, so please come again," but there is no number 1 bonus.

I did it.

Iwasu's reaction two weeks ago and last week was that "I should make it possible to use it from the second time" and "The bonus column can start from the second time as well."

I wonder what to do.

Oh! That's right! Let's get two stamps on the first try!

If that's the case, you'll be able to use <Privilege 2> next time.

So, let's start with the stamp card, which made a dramatic mistake by having two stamps stamped on it right away.

If you're visiting us Monday through Thursday, please feel free to pick one up.

This week in New Zealand

One of our customers who has been very kind to us is an employee of the rugby team, Toyota Verblitz, and we received this from him.

Steve Hansen autographed jersey

Steve Hansen autographed jersey.

Steve Hansen is currently the Director of Rugby at Toyota Verblitz and is also known for having served as head coach of the All Blacks.

I'm grateful that they took the trouble to bring this to us because our store is related to New Zealand.

By the way, I myself am very naive about rugby.

We are looking for someone to help teach us about the appeal of rugby at the counter. Especially Monday through Thursday.
