The story of "coupons"

What do you think about the word "coupon"?

This is what coupons look like to me:

"Mr. Iwasu, Mr. Bokumo (restaurants), why don't you go ahead and offer a 20% off coupon? You'll get a lot more customers!"

This is what the sales staff of a certain gourmet site mean when they say "coupon."

light.

The salesperson's tone is light-hearted, and the word "coupon" is also light-hearted.

(By the way, there's no way a small independent store like ours could offer a 20% discount .)

Yes, for me, who runs a restaurant, coupons bring to mind images of "discounts," "bargains," and "bonuses."

However, the coupon is now being used in places like this.

Vaccine Coupons

"Vaccine coupons"

Hmm.

After the extremely serious word ``vaccine,'' we suddenly hear the carefree ``It's a good deal.''

Something like "Ambulance Discount"? (There's no such word.)

Oh, I see.

To me, as a restaurant owner, these words are "suggesting a discount," but I wonder if the government officials deliberately used a word like "coupon," which gives the impression of a good deal, in order to steer people towards something like, "Getting the vaccine is a great deal! See, it's free, so you have no choice but to get it!"

I see, in that sense, I hit the ball exactly as I wanted, so it was a success!

...While thinking about such stupid things, I get ready to go to the vaccination site.

This is the second time.

I'll be getting the Moderna vaccine, which is known for causing feverish side effects the second time around.

This is a workplace vaccination for regular members of the Japan Sommelier Association, and since the opportunity came up for me as I work for a very small company, after discussing it with my wife, we decided to get vaccinated.

The first time was fine. It was just a little hard to raise my arms. However, there are many reports from seniors that the second time was tough. I'm shaking.

But when I think about it, I've never had a strange experience as this vaccination.

After all, I've never had the experience of knowing that I would get a fever and actually getting one.

When you catch a cold or the flu, you don't even realize it, and your fever rises without any warning.

But this time, many people are saying that they feel very sick after getting the second Moderna vaccine. I think I will feel the same way.

I know I'll get a high fever, won't be able to get out of bed, and it's awful, but I still feel that way. It makes me really nervous.

However, if you can get through the fever period, it seems there is a "benefit" in the form of antibody protection. But even though I know that, I'm still scared.

At times like this, the only thing I can do is sing to distract myself.

...Haa.

Did I go crazy before any side effects occurred?

Well, let's just say that I'm trying to suppress my anxiety and prepare for the high fever that is to come...

Well, I'm ready to go out, I just need to fill out the medical questionnaire and head to the vaccination site.

Take your current temperature and write it down.

Oh no!

It's 37.4 degrees Celsius.

terrible.

I've been feeling a bit tired and lightheaded for the past few days. I've been working in an air-conditioned room for a long time. Maybe I've caught a summer cold.

I didn't feel that bad, so I didn't even take my temperature. But I was wrong.

The rule is that you cannot receive the vaccine if your temperature is over 37.5℃ . If you go to the venue and are not allowed to receive the vaccine, it will be a wasted trip.

Outside, it was pouring rain. I was sure I would get soaked just going there and back. I was likely to get sick.

...Ugh, I'll stop here this time.

The horror! The punishment of procrastination!!!

I made fun of the coupons that the government had worked so hard to issue, sang a weird song, and got punished. When I looked it up on Wikipedia, I found out that the word coupon just means "a ticket that can be cut off and used."

I called the Sommelier Association and asked them to cancel and provide me with an alternative date. Sorry for the trouble, staff.

Now, let's move on to the next topic, another coupon.

Prior to the opening, Bokumo Wine conducted crowdfunding and received a lot of support. Thank you very much.

We would be happy if our desire to "convey the deliciousness of New Zealand wine" could be conveyed, even in a small way, through the wine and the accompanying items that you actually received.

For this crowdfunding campaign, we offered all participants a special bonus of either a recommended wine glass or a 2,000 yen off coupon to use on your next order (we went all out this time!), but the expiration date of the latter coupon is approaching.
