"Don't you drink wine from other countries?"

Son of a Flag Enthusiast

"The Swiss flag actually has a 1:1 aspect ratio, but the flag the jockey is holding has a 2:3 aspect ratio!"

A girl interested in fashion

"The Kenyan team's uniforms are so cute!"

Wife

"Wake me up when the cauldron is about to catch fire. I'll sleep until then."

I

"Italy! Here comes the wine powerhouse. Next is Israel. They make wine but I've never tried it. A friend who lived in India gave me some wine and it was delicious. In alphabetical order, New Zealand wine is quite a ways off..."

Each of the four had a different reaction.

By the way, I've been leaning towards New Zealand wines lately, and people sometimes ask me, "Don't you drink wines from other countries?"

Of course, I'll drink it.

The reason is to check the position.

The world of wine is very large. There are traditional European countries, mainly France and Italy, and "New World" countries such as New Zealand, Australia, the United States, South Africa, and Japan. Furthermore, there are countries such as the UK and Georgia that have recently been attracting attention again, and the trends change every year.

Among them, where is NZ wine located? It is necessary to confirm to some extent where NZ wine is located when viewed from the outside. It is not enough to just say that you like what you like, but you want to understand that NZ wine has certain characteristics compared to others.

This is the same as being aware of the position of wine among drinks. That is also important.

I also think it's important to be aware of the position that restaurants and mail order businesses have in our daily lives.

Sometimes I wonder where I stand among people my age, but I don't think there's any point in comparing myself to, say, David Beckham, Tiger Woods, Joe Odagiri, or Tsuyoshi Muro (for some reason, they're all in katakana), so I try not to think about it too much. Our positions in life are so different to begin with.

So, in this sweltering heat, I decided to buy a bottle of Chablis, a wine I loved before I got hooked on New Zealand .

Chablis is a French white wine, characterized by a crisp, dry, mineral taste. It's a refreshing wine that you'll want to drink in the summer. It's a taste that you won't find in NZ . Okay, let's enjoy the vastness of the wine world!

That's what it was supposed to be.

However, it's been a while since I last had Chablis...

Too bad. It tasted like it had been "heat deteriorated." It was not the original Chablis at all.

Actually, the moment I entered the liquor store where I bought this wine (it was my first time there), I thought, "Oh no!" The air conditioning wasn't working at all. The temperature inside the store felt like about 30 degrees. I wondered if it was okay to buy it there, but the structure of the store meant that you couldn't get to the exit without going through the cash register, so I just grabbed a Chablis, and as expected, that was the result.

Lesson learned.

Temperature control in the store is very important to deliver delicious wine. Bokumo & Bokumo Wine strictly controls the temperature. We want to maintain our position as a wine store that offers the right quality.

I'll buy some Chablis from another store soon. I'll also look for some Israeli wine. I'd like to try some Indian wine for the first time in a while.

This week's wine and snacks

Heat deterioration. To put it nicely, it was a tired-tasting Chablis, like "Thank you for your hard work on your long journey." However, it was just not the original taste, but I thought it was a valid wine.

Even though the wine is not from New Zealand , I wanted to try some New Zealand- style snacks, so I made pasta topped with kiwi fruit.

Pasta topped with Chablis and kiwi fruit

It was a pretty good match. Next time, I'll try again with a proper Chablis.
