Whether you like it or not depends on your first instructor.

"Whether you like it or not depends on your first instructor."

This is my opinion.

I was rather a boy who wasn't good at sports.

In the youth baseball team that we played with such enthusiasm, even in the sixth grade, only Tokoro-kun and I were substitutes. A skilled fourth grader easily took the regular spot. It was embarrassing, but there was nothing we could do about it.

But even for someone like me, there was a sport I grew to like.

That's skiing.

It's a system that seems surprising even now, but the high school I went to didn't have a school trip. Instead, we had a ski camp in Nagano.

Why ski camp?

Could it be that a senior student made a mistake at Disney and can't go, and as a result, we're now trapped on a snowy mountain?

I hate snowy mountains. I've never been there. There's no way I could ski. I'd end up getting cold and just falling over.

That's what I thought.

However, a savior appears for Iwasu, who is bad at sports.

They were my childhood friends, Kei-chan and Hatchan. Every year, Kei-chan and Hatchan go skiing with their families, and they asked me, "How about you come this year, Iwasu-kun?" and invited me. Even though we all go to different high schools!

Yay, lucky me!

You can prepare before your school transfer trip, which is not a school trip!

And that luck was really lucky, as Kei-chan, who was already an advanced surfer, stayed with me all the time and taught me how to do the wedge turn (sorry, I think Hatchan taught me too, but I mainly remember Kei-chan).

He encourages me when I fall down, and praises me by saying, "That's great!" when I do it well.

After just one day, I was able to ski down gentle slopes with just a little bit of skiing.

Wow, Kei-chan (sorry, my memory of Hatchan is hazy), thank you!!!

I've fallen in love with skiing! Ski, ski, ski! (Maru C Hosokawa Fumie)

And with that experience, I went to a ski training camp. Of course, I started from the intermediate course. Heh-heh. I can ski a little, so it was a wonderful and fun training camp!

After that, both at university and after I started working, I started going skiing several times a year, and it became a legitimate hobby of mine.

I think that if I hadn't had the experience that my friend taught me in my first year of high school, my life would have been different after that.

Yes, it all depends on the first instructor. It's important that you don't feel like you're bad at it in the first place. It's important that you can take on the challenge with a little confidence the next time.

That's why I want to be a good instructor for people who are trying New Zealand wine for the first time, or who are not familiar with wine in general.

With this in mind, Bokumo Wine , a specialty New Zealand wine shop , has decided to include these items so that even first-time customers can enjoy the wine.

Number 1: Wine Card Wine is fun if you know a little about it. So, we attach a wine card with a brief description of the wine to each bottle you purchase. If you don't have anything to say when you drink it, you just drink it. But if you have a little information, you can enjoy it with the information.

There are also examples of meals that would go perfectly with it, so I hope it will be helpful for your dinner plans.

Part 2: A booklet summarizing the characteristics of New Zealand wines What is New Zealand wine? What kind of world is there? We are giving away a booklet that explains this to first-time purchasers. We took the time to create it.

Tip 3: Original postcard For repeat customers, we will enclose a postcard of "Photos of the Great Nature of New Zealand" by photographer Shu Ito, who has lived in New Zealand. We hope that you will feel closer to New Zealand wine, which is made in the great outdoors (preparation in progress).

That's pretty good. I thought maybe this would make people who bought it for the first time more interested in it.

But I was wrong.

We received the following report from co-owner Sato-san.

"My friend said that the red wine he received was very bitter. Apparently he doesn't like bitter wines."

...Damn it!

At this time of year, Bokumo wine is delivered in a refrigerated delivery service to maintain its quality, but if you put it straight into the fridge and drink it straight away, it will be bitter!

This is because there is an ideal temperature for wine, and in the case of red wine, lowering the temperature makes it more bitter.

Ah, I didn't explain that properly...

I quickly created a paper with suggested optimal drinking temperatures for each type of wine (red, white, sparkling, rosé, orange).

It's no good not telling them such basic information. I'm still only halfway through my journey as an instructor.

If you are reading this and there is a part that you still don't understand or that needs a bit more explanation, please feel free to let us know.

From now on, I would like to explain to those who are trying New Zealand wine for the first time how to enjoy it until they have progressed to trying Wedeln (the feeling of being able to enjoy it freely and easily).

I couldn't help but show my face. I personally really like the taste of this wine. It's mellow with hints of plum and peach, and has a great concentration. It also has a long aftertaste. Mmm, irresistible.

Pinot Gris is a minor variety in most countries except France, but it is major in NZ. There is no doubt that it is the stronghold of Sauvignon Blanc, but among white varieties, it has recently been in a fierce battle with Chardonnay for second place.

When you drink this kind of Pinot Gris, you can see why it is so popular in its home country. It seems to go well with a wide range of meals. It's a convenient wine to have on the dinner table. If you haven't tried NZ Pinot Gris yet, I recommend starting with this one.

Light tomato sauce pasta with pork and onion

It was paired with pork and onion in a light tomato sauce pasta. The rich flavor of Pinot Gris goes really well with pork. I realized once again that white wine can be a great companion to meat.
