I want today to be the same as yesterday. Somewhere deep down, I think that.
As we age, our brain functions decline. Our ability to adapt to changes in the environment declines. That's the path most people take. Or so I've heard.
And it's easy to get the illusion that "the same store as yesterday" has value.
That restaurant, that taste, that atmosphere.
People who think it's a good idea will want to have the same experience again, and so will visit the store. However, there are very few stores that can survive solely on "repeated customers who want the same thing."
Unfortunately, the human brain has a built-in ability to get bored. It is designed to make us seek out more fun.
The restaurant is destined to continue to provide more fun and more delicious food.
However, as a person working in the store, my brain is aging a little bit every day.
No!
Stop aging. You need to stimulate yourself. Fighting aging leads to revitalization of the brain and the store.
So with that in mind, I did this this week.
"Bokumo x Shie: A Feast of New Zealand Wine and Game Dishes"
A variety of dishes that are different from the usual boxed dishes are served with higher-grade New Zealand wine than usual.
We invited Mr. Sakai from the wild game restaurant "Shie" in Fushimi to enjoy a double chef dinner with Chef Furuzono from Bokumo.
Thinking about pairings and the schedule for the day sent stimuli through my brain.
Participants said, "It was a dinner party that felt like Obon and New Year's at the same time." I'm glad that the stimulation of this extraordinary experience was conveyed to everyone's brains.
Personally, there were a few things I wish I had done better, but this was also a stimulus to my brain. It made me more motivated to do better next time.
The next one will probably be around spring. I'll do something exciting again.
By the way, my wife recently started going to Chocozap. It seems that regular exercise helps prevent brain aging.
