How about the video?

There are times in my life when I make videos , and they seem to come randomly.

It started when I was a university student. That was over 25 years ago. I was in a broadcasting club at university. I planned stage events at the school festival, produced radio programs, and made video works.

One day, my classmates and I decided to do a prank on our seniors. In the club room, where we had set up a hidden camera, Y-da and I had a big fight. When a senior who happened to be there tried to stop the fight, the camera operator came in and revealed the plot.

``I have to be really angry to make it seem more realistic.'' ``So, when should I grab him by the collar?'' ``Well, let me grab him.'' They rehearsed while giggling, and then the real thing began.

The plan was a great success. The seniors gave us a loving lecture, saying, "What the heck?" and "You guys did a great job." I enjoyed watching the video of the whole thing over and over again.

Later, when I worked part-time at a video production company, I was told to "practice improving my planning skills," and I was allowed to make a mini program. The content was me introducing music videos in front of the camera like an MTV VJ. Looking back, it was a copy of MTV, so there was no planning ability or anything, and I was talking without much knowledge, so of course my speaking was terrible. Being surrounded by professional equipment made me extremely nervous, and the finished product was of such poor quality that it was unwatchable. Even now, I break out in a cold sweat when I think about it.

A few years later, I got a job as a radio director, but on the side, I also did work covering indie artists' live shows. Every week, I went to live houses to film their shows and interview them. I also interviewed SEAMO (when he was called Seamonator) before his debut, and the ARROWS.

Also, just before I left the radio scene and started my own shop, I had a sudden thought that "Maybe I should start doing YouTube from now on," so I made a YouTube video with some acquaintances as the performers, talking about the appeal of progressive rock (you can still find it if you search for "Prog Onishi"). At that time, I thought that if I hadn't just been playing around with it and continued to do it more seriously, I might have become something amazing by now. I had a bit of foresight, but I lacked the ability to execute. Too bad.

Well, after all that video history, the time has come this year for me to make a video for the first time in quite a while.

Recently, while talking to customers across the counter, I noticed that the topic of "favourite videos" was quite common. Camping videos, cooking videos, animal videos, videos of favourite YouTubers. To be honest, I don't have that much time to watch videos, but when I interact with customers, I get the feeling that watching videos has clearly become a part of their daily lives compared to a few years ago. This may be related to the fact that many people's lifestyles have changed due to self-restraint due to the coronavirus.

And recently, I was surprised to find out that my child's school has an assignment to film a video at home. Apparently, they film a speech and submit it to their teacher. I guess videos are becoming the norm in the field of education.

When we were talking about this during a planning meeting for this website, "New Zealand Wine Lovers," we decided, "Why not try making a video explaining wine?"

But it takes courage to be the subject of a photo. I'm originally a behind-the-scenes person. And when I decided to do it, the first thing that came to mind was the tragedy of MTV's rip-off in the past. I have to make sure that I don't end up like that this time.

However, what's different from back then is that I have a field of expertise, even if it's just a little. I think I can talk about New Zealand wine somehow. If I'm not confident, I'll end up being a boring person, but if it's about my field of expertise, I might be able to become someone who communicates with a little passion . Even if I'm not good at it, as long as I have the passion, I think I can manage. With that feeling as my support, I decided to make this video for now.

In terms of my motivation, I was able to shoot it not like the bitter "pseudo MTV" but like the "fight prank" of my college days. I wanted the viewers to enjoy it, but I also wanted to have fun. In fact, on the scene, we were able to do it in a good mood, with various ideas like "Maybe we should do it this way to get the message across more."

If you like it, please give me your feedback. Oh, wait, in this case, I would say "Please subscribe to my channel."

This week's wine and snacks

When it comes to the taste that represents New Zealand, it is "produced in Marlborough and made from Sauvignon Blanc." This wine is one such example. If this question was asked in a blind tasting, you would exclaim, "Yes, that's a lucky question!" with such an easily recognizable Marlborough taste.

Grapefruit, passion fruit, clean acidity, and a green, fresh herbal flavor that lingers in the aftertaste. The overall impression is extremely fruity. This is the perfect outdoor wine to drink outside on a sunny day.

This is what I put together. Here it is.

Raw ham and kiwi

Prosciutto + melon is a classic wine snack, but the New Zealand version is prosciutto + kiwi. The saltiness of the ham and the sweetness and sourness of the kiwi are perfectly intertwined and delicious.

And it goes without saying that it pairs well with Sauvignon Blanc. "Fruitful New Zealand wine" and "snacks containing New Zealand fruit kiwi" are a pairing that you can tell will go well together even before you eat them.

It was as if they were destined to fall in love before they even met. Of course, that promise turned out to be true. They ended up in bed on their first date.
