Today, let's start with photos.
On the right is me with overgrown hair. I've been blaming it on COVID and skipping out on going to the hairdresser. That's no good. My wife tells me that when you get older, there are few things you should prioritize over cleanliness. I'll do it properly next week.
In contrast, the young man on the left has sharp hair and a neat expression. He looks neat. But although I say young, he is actually 44 years old, just like me. This is a good example of how people who know their priorities can be like this, even if they are the same age.
His name is Takashi Suzuki. The picture above shows the sign outside Rockmo. Those with good intuition may have noticed. Yes, this Suzuki is the new owner of Rockmo.
In June, I wrote on this blog that I had decided to close Rockmo, and asked if anyone would like to take over.
Thankfully, I received more inquiries than I expected and met several people. Among them, Suzuki-san said he wanted to carry on my vision and create a great rock bar, so I asked him to run Rockmo.
Rockmo, which closed at the end of July, will be taken over by someone else this August and will reopen as a new store in September.
The restaurant will be under new ownership, but the name will remain the same. The interior will change slightly, but the concept will remain the same. "To provide a place for new encounters through music and alcohol." This concept, which is dear to me, will continue.
Another world in Sakae. Alcohol, snacks, request system. Such "Rockmo-only" features will continue. This is really nice.
Of course, new elements unique to Suzuki will also be added.
Suzuki-san loves rock music and wears rock T-shirts every day. This photo is of Jimi Hendrix. He has a strong grasp of classic rock, so he is very trustworthy. I'm sure he will have a great selection of songs, and you won't have to worry about requests.
He has also worked in a variety of restaurants. We can expect snacks that make use of his unique experience. He said he will also serve some clever bar food and curry as a final dish. Drinks will include a wide range of alcohol, including whiskey, cocktails, beer, and wine. He also seems to be thinking about various projects for YouTube. That's great. I'm excited.
The opening is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9th. What kind of new developments will it bring? From now on, I would like to visit Rockmo as a customer and keep an eye on it.
Of course, since this is a launch event at this time, they will be taking the utmost care to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Now, to mark the opening, as a final gesture from the former owner, I would like to stock a bottle of "Suntory Whisky Chita". This is not for me to drink, but for those who read this blog and come to the new Rockmo to drink. If you mention "Iwasu's Chita", you can drink it for free, so please feel free to use it (one drink per person. If you mix it with something, please pay for it at actual cost. When it's gone, it's gone).
Oh, that's right. For regulars, it might be fun to try the "Old and New Rock Mo, guess what's changed" quiz. I think there are at least three big changes!
