About the Seyfried Estate Winery
Seifried Estate is a winery located in the Nelson region of New Zealand's South Island.
Also known as "Sunny Nelson," this region receives some of the most sunshine in New Zealand, and focuses on producing aromatic white grapes.
Seyfried Estate was the first winery in Nelson to successfully produce wine. It was established in 1973 and is known as the oldest winery in the area.
This winery was opened by Austrian immigrant Hermann Seyfried and grows many grape varieties from his native Eastern Europe. Some of these varieties are unique to Seyfried in NZ, and his wines made from German varieties such as Riesling and Gewurztraminer are especially highly regarded.
