This wine is a well-balanced blend of Chardonnay from multiple regions. It is barrel-aged, which is rare at this price point, and offers a complex flavor that is a great value for the money.
It pairs perfectly with avocado salad, seafood doria, cheese-filled pizza, chicken nanban, etc. It's a convenient wine to have on the table.
Great Chardonnay for the price
The Chardonnay grape variety is classified as a "neutral variety" with little distinctive aroma, but this wine has very distinctive fruit aromas such as ripe pear and mango.
It is smooth to drink, and the fruity flavors of tropical fruits such as pineapple and yellow peaches preserved in syrup fill your mouth.
The aftertaste has a slightly bitter aftertaste, making it perfect for pairing with vegetables, chicken, or seafood dishes.
It is reasonably priced among New Zealand wines, but has a very robust flavor with concentrated fruitiness.
This is a perfect example of NZ Chardonnay!

About the Winery "Villa Maria"
VILLA MARIA is a large-scale winery that leads the New Zealand wine market.
Since its founding in Auckland in 1961 by George Fistonich, the company has continued to provide a stable supply and currently exports to 60 countries.
The winery is also widely known for having won the most awards in Japan at wine competitions around the world.
Villa Maria's vineyards are located in four locations: Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, and Auckland on the North Island, and Marlborough on the South Island, and grape varieties suited to each location are cultivated. The harvested grapes are vinified and aged in Auckland, Marlborough, and Hawke's Bay, and all bottling is done in Auckland.
The wine is made from grapes grown in different regions: Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Marlborough and Waipara (Canterbury).
The company began its organic farming efforts in 1999, and in 2007, 21 hectares of vineyards were certified BioGro. Currently, all vineyards are in the process of being converted to organic farming. In addition, all Villa Maria wineries and vineyards are certified by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand™ (SWNZ).
