Chardonnay That Exceeds Its Price

While Chardonnay is classified as a "neutral varietal" with few aromatic characteristics, this wine boasts very distinctive fruit aromas, like ripe pear and mango.

It has a smooth entry, and the fruity flavors of pineapple and syrupy yellow peach, reminiscent of tropical fruits, fill the mouth.

The finish also has a subtle, slightly bitter aftertaste, making you want to pair it with vegetables, chicken, or seafood dishes.

It's an affordable New Zealand wine, but it offers a very robust flavor with concentrated fruitiness.

About the Winery "Villa Maria"

Villa Maria is a large winery that leads the New Zealand wine market.

Established in Auckland in 1961 by Sir George Fistonich, it has maintained a stable supply and currently exports to 60 countries.

It is also widely known for having won the most awards in international wine competitions.

Villa Maria's vineyards are located in four areas: Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, and Auckland in the North Island, and Marlborough in the South Island, with grape varieties cultivated to suit each region. Grapes are harvested and vinified/aged in Auckland, Marlborough, and Hawke's Bay, and all bottling takes place in Auckland.

This wine uses grapes grown in different regions: Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, Marlborough, and Waipara (Canterbury).

Villa Maria began organic farming initiatives in 1999, and by 2007, 21 hectares of vineyards were BioGro certified. Currently, all vineyards are transitioning to organic farming. In addition, all Villa Maria wineries and vineyards are certified by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand™ (SWNZ).
