Rich & Complex Pinot

Produced in Bendigo, a warmer area within Otago, this wine stands out for its power compared to others. It has a complex and persistent powerful finish, yet the tannins are fine-grained. It has an aging potential of over 15 years.

Game meat is the best match. Lean beef also pairs well. Eel with sansho pepper could also be a good pairing. For cheese, aged Comté is recommended.

About Valli Vineyards

Valli Wines was established in 1998 by legendary New Zealand winemaker Grant Taylor. The winery is named in honor of his great-great-grandfather, Giuseppe Valli, who immigrated from Italy.

At the heart of their winemaking philosophy is "bottling the essence of the land as it is". Through their wines, they convey the fascinating way that the flavor of the same grape variety can change dramatically depending on where it is grown (climate and soil).

Grant Taylor (Founder)

He is a leading pioneer in New Zealand. He is the only legendary winemaker in the world to have won the "Best Pinot Noir Award" an unprecedented four times at international competitions in London.

Jen Parr (Co-Winemaker)

A talented winemaker who joined in 2015. Hailing from the US, she has extensive domestic and international experience and has won New Zealand's "Winemaker of the Year Award," showcasing her remarkable talent.

Four Distinctive "Vineyards"

At Valli, they mainly produce the king of red wines, "Pinot Noir," along with white wines such as "Chardonnay," "Pinot Gris," and "Riesling." The four regions (vineyards) they work with each have completely different characteristics.

Gibbston

It's a very cool place where grapes ripen most slowly.

Slow ripening results in an elegant, refined, complex, and delicate flavor. A rare "orange wine" is also produced here.

Bannockburn

Only 20km from Gibbston, but a warmer area.

It produces powerful wines with deep color, strong fruitiness, and a suitable astringency that provides structure.

Bendigo

A warm vineyard that always gets plenty of sun and retains heat easily.

Waitaki

Characteristics

A new region established in 2004. The soil is limestone, similar to the prestigious Burgundy region of France.

Characterized by a fragrant, perfume-like aroma, crisp, clear acidity, and minerality. The Chardonnay, in particular, is considered exquisite.

About the Central Otago Region

Central Otago, the southernmost wine region in the country, is renowned for its Pinot Noir and is considered one of the "world's top three Pinot Noir regions," alongside Burgundy and Oregon.

In addition to Pinot Noir, they focus on cultivating aromatic white grapes. This region is the only one in New Zealand with a semi-continental climate, characterized by large daily temperature swings, coolness, and extreme dryness.

It is also home to many small wineries, and winery tours based in the picturesque town of Queenstown are popular.
