The handsome Cowley brothers have revived this historic winery, built about 150 years ago, into a modern winery. This SB has a pleasant acidity and a refreshing taste, making it a great value.
This wine is perfect for outdoor dining. It pairs perfectly with herb-garnished carpaccio and fried foods like fried chicken.
About the Antsfield Estate Winery
Auntsfield Estate is one of Marlborough's oldest wineries.
David Hurd, founder of Antsfield, was a European immigrant who moved to Marlborough in 1854. At the time, Marlborough was an unexplored wine region, but Hurd was quick to recognize its potential, and planted his first grape vines in 1873.
A bronze statue of Mr. Hurd has been placed at Blenheim Airport, the gateway to Marlborough, to commemorate his achievements as the first man to produce wine in Marlborough.
Although Antsfield enjoyed a high reputation for the next 50 years, winemaking ceased after 1931 due to issues such as finding a successor.
However, in 2000, winemaking was resumed by the Cowley family, who purchased a large plot of land in Antsfield and began making wine in a new winery while preserving the original winery facilities from when the winery was founded.
Today, Antesfield is run by the Cowley family, with two brothers, Ben and Luc, at the core of the business.
His older brother, Ben, is in charge of grape cultivation and actually lives on the vineyard, managing the grapes.
His younger brother, Luc, is now focused on winemaking, paying homage to David Herd's wishes and the grapes his brother so lovingly cultivated.

Marlborough has ideal natural conditions for grape growing, such as abundant sunshine and large temperature differences throughout the day, and produces over 80% of New Zealand's wine.
Among them, Sauvignon Blanc, characterized by its crisp acidity and overflowing fruitiness, boasts an overwhelming production volume and is loved worldwide for its unique character. In red wine, Pinot Noir, with its rich berry fruit flavor, is also popular.
