Environmental considerations, a scientific approach, and depth of flavor - this is truly a flagship bottle that embodies the core of Love Block's winemaking philosophy.
In Marlborough, where the "fruit bomb" style with its fruity aroma is mainstream, Love Block's Sauvignon Blanc is a little different.
The aroma is fresh, without being too flashy. The nuances of citrus, passion fruit, and herbs are clearly felt, but the overall taste is calm and subdued . Compared to typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, it is impressive for its rounded mellowness and restrained elegance .
Contrary to the cuteness of the label, the taste is surprisingly mature. Its deep style makes it the type of white wine that you want to enjoy slowly over time , rather than just chilling and gulping it down.
[Brewing and aging]
What is particularly noteworthy about this wine is the use of a variety of different containers for fermentation and aging : egg-shaped concrete tanks called " concrete eggs ," unglazed ceramic amphorae , old French oak barrels , and stainless steel tanks . By blending raw liquor aged in each of these different fermentation and aging containers, a single bottle is given depth and texture, as if multiple layers overlap .
Tradition and innovation, natural fruitiness and quiet complexity - this combination is what defines this Sauvignon Blanc.
[Characteristics of the field and cultivation methods]
The photo shows Love Block's vineyards, which spread across the hills of the Awatere Valley . This region is particularly cool and dry, with strong winds and large temperature differences between day and night , making it ideal for growing grapes.
Love Block respects the environment and the diversity of the fields, and uses biodynamic farming methods . Unlike neatly trimmed fields, the fields are covered with thick leaves and a variety of plants grow at your feet, creating a landscape brimming with life .

About the Winery "Love Block"
Love Block is a winery run by winemaker Kim Crawford and his wife Erica.
Kim gained experience working in wineries in Australia, Napa Valley and South Africa, before returning to his native New Zealand in 1988 and working as winemaker at Cooper's Creek for about 10 years.
He founded Kim Crawford with Erica in 1996, and two years later began exporting to the United States. The winery has since gained worldwide acclaim, including being repeatedly selected as one of Wine Spectator's Top 100 wineries.
However, seeking greater things, the couple sold Kim Crawford and founded Love Block in Awatere Valley, Marlborough.
Love Block's vineyards are located in Awatere and Central Otago. The Awatere vineyard was discovered by Erica in 2003. She fell in love with the view and the great potential of the land, and after many years of preparation, she started making wine.
The two value organic winemaking, which expresses the individuality of the land. They create an organic farm where animals such as chickens, sheep, and cows coexist with a wide variety of plants, and they make wine that respects the natural environment while valuing symbiosis with animals and nature. One of Awatere's vineyards, Love Block Farm, is BioGro certified.
Our Central Otago vineyards are located in Bendigo, the warmest part of the region, and we grow only Pinot Noir in the well-drained soils that receive ample sunshine.
