Greywacke is a brand established by Kevin Judd, who served as chief winemaker for many years at Cloudy Bay, a leading NZ winery.

Having made wine in Marlborough for nearly 40 years, he is truly a man who "knows Marlborough inside and out."

His Pinot Noir beautifully expresses the region's style: "powerful and fruity Pinot."

About the Winery "Greywacke"

"Greywacke" was established in 2009 when Kevin Judd, of the prominent NZ winery Cloudy Bay, ventured out on his own.

Cloudy Bay is undeniably a leading NZ winery that put New Zealand wines on the world map. In particular, the distinctive taste of their Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc shocked wine lovers worldwide. It garnered praise for having a taste that couldn't be found anywhere else in the world outside of Marlborough, with Cloudy Bay's expression being especially superb.

Kevin Judd, as the chief winemaker, supported that taste for many years. He can be considered one of the great figures in the NZ wine industry, having played a major role in bringing international attention to NZ wines.

At Greywacke, he leverages his experience, employing even more meticulous production methods to explore the full potential of NZ wines.

The brand name "Greywacke" is inspired by the greywacke sedimentary rock common in New Zealand, embodying the desire to "become a wine that represents the country."
