The rich flavor of ripe grapes

Chardonnay by Kevin Judd, a key figure in NZ wine. Fermented with wild yeast and aged for 11 months on its lees. It brings out the power of the fruit and harmonizes it with the aroma of the oak barrel.

Perfect with pan-fried white fish with butter. It also goes well with cream stews of chicken or pork, cream-based pasta dishes, and seafood gratin.

About the winery "Greywacke"

"Greywacke" was established in 2009 by Kevin Judd, a leading figure at New Zealand's representative winery, Cloudy Bay, after he became independent.

Cloudy Bay is undeniably the most important winery in the New Zealand wine industry, having brought NZ wine to the world's attention. In particular, the distinctive taste of their Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc shocked wine lovers worldwide. This taste was recognized as unique to Marlborough and, within Marlborough, Cloudy Bay's taste was considered particularly outstanding.

Kevin Judd, as the chief winemaker, supported that taste for many years. He is, in a sense, one of the great figures in the NZ wine industry who created a major opportunity for NZ wine to attract global attention.

At Greywacke, he utilizes his experience and pursues the potential of NZ wine with an even more dedicated production method.

Furthermore, the brand name "Greywacke" is inspired by "Greywacke," a popular sedimentary rock in New Zealand, and carries the aspiration to "become a wine that represents the country."

About the Marlborough region

Marlborough is the heart of NZ's wine-producing regions.

With abundant sunshine and large temperature variations throughout the day, the natural conditions are favorable for grape cultivation, and over 80% of NZ wine is produced in Marlborough.

Among these, Sauvignon Blanc, characterized by its crisp acidity and overflowing fruitiness, boasts an overwhelming production volume and is widely loved worldwide for its unique character. As for red wines, Pinot Noir, with its rich berry fruit flavors, is popular.
