Rich Fruit Flavors, Hint of Oak
This Chardonnay is made by Kohei Koyama, a Japanese winemaker residing in New Zealand.
The aroma offers a savory roasted almond scent derived from the oak, alongside tropical fruit flavors such as pineapple and mango.
Upon tasting, the richness of the fruit is more prominent than the oak. It presents fruity notes of plum and grapefruit, as well as the pineapple flavor detected in the aroma.
Following this, the savory vanilla and almond flavors from the oak emerge.
Overall, while fruit-forward, the acidity is not sharp, resulting in a creamy and mellow finish.
The grapes are organically grown and come from 25-year-old vines.
It is fermented with wild yeast, aged in barrels for one year, and then bottle-aged at the winery for over two years before release.

About the Winery "Green Songs"
"Green Songs" is a winery run by Japanese winemaker Kohei Koyama.
After a successful career in business in Tokyo and London, Kohei decided to pursue winemaking in 2011 and moved to New Zealand.
He studied viticulture and enology at Lincoln University, graduating as the first Japanese student to achieve top honors. He then gained practical winemaking experience in New Zealand and California, finally establishing his own winery in partnership with Atamai Village in Nelson in 2014.
Atamai Village is a community that shares the common goal of living with the least possible impact on the global environment, with orchards and farms operated collectively.
Kohei is also the viticulturist and winemaker at "URLAR," a winery in Gladstone, Wairarapa. "URLAR" is owned by Yoichiro Nishi, the 8th generation head of Nishi Sake Brewery in Kagoshima Prefecture.
Currently, Kohei primarily operates in Gladstone, expanding his winemaking endeavors by further enriching the Green Songs lineup. Great things are expected from him in the future.
About the Wairarapa Region
"Wairarapa" is located in the southeast of New Zealand's North Island, about an hour's drive from the capital Wellington, making it a popular resort area due to its excellent accessibility.
The sub-region of "Martinborough" within Wairarapa shares similar climatic and soil conditions with "Burgundy" in France, and is known as one of the world's top Pinot Noir producing regions.
