Cloudy Bay produces this exquisite Pinot in Central Otago. 15% is whole-cluster fermented. It is aged in barrels for 12 months and in bottle for 12 months before being released. It has a supple and refined taste.
It pairs perfectly with roasted duck or venison. It also pairs well with beef. It's the perfect wine for a special occasion, paired with high-quality meat dishes.
Supple and rich Pinot

Te Wahi is a wine made from grapes grown in Central Otago, 700km south of Marlborough, where Cloudy Bay is based.
"Te Wahi" means "the place" in Maori.
Central Otago is one of the world's leading Pinot Noir producing regions, and is home to many internationally acclaimed producers, including Felton Road, Gibbston Valley and Sato Wines.
The vineyards are often located in hilly areas, and unlike Marlborough, harvesting by machine is not possible, so the number of grapes harvested is not large. However, as it is the only wine-producing region in New Zealand with a "semi-continental climate" with extreme temperature differences between day and night, it produces very high-quality Pinot Noir.
Te Wahi is a balanced blend of grapes from two vineyards with different characteristics. One is Calvert, which has silty soil. The grapes harvested here are characterized by fine tannins and delicate, soft aromas. The other is Northburn, which has loamy soil. Here, grapes with powerful, firm structure are harvested. Of course, all the grapes are hand-picked.
The flavor of Te Wahi is even richer than Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir, which is made using grapes from Marlborough, and is dominated by black fruits such as blackberries, dark berries, and American cherries, with a strong spicy kick from star anise and cloves.
By the way, Te Wahi had a period when they used screw caps because they couldn't get good corks, but they have now returned to cork stoppers, which is rare for New Zealand wines, where screw cap usage is over 99%.

Recommended pairings
This wine pairs perfectly with meat dishes with complex flavors.
For example, try pairing it with "roasted duck with balsamic sauce" or "beef cheek stewed in red wine."
About the Cloudy Bay Winery
Cloudy Bay was founded in 1985 by David Hohnen, the founder of the Australian winery Cape Mentelle. It is one of the earliest wineries to establish itself in the Marlborough region, known as New Zealand's largest wine-producing region.
Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc was one of a kind at the time, combining the aromas of passion fruit and tropical fruits with the aromas of herbs and grasses.
Its lively style, which makes the most of the characteristics of the Marlborough region, is very unique and has been called "the wine that woke the world up to white wine," and it is highly regarded as a wine that has raised the global status of New Zealand wine.
Currently under the umbrella of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the company continues to produce high-quality wines and contributes to the development of New Zealand wine.
By the way, Cloudy Bay's name quickly spread around the world after it formed a partnership with the famous champagne maker, Veuve Clicquot.
About Central Otago
Central Otago, the southernmost region in the country, is known as a famous producer of Pinot Noir and is known as one of the world's three major Pinot Noir producing regions, along with Burgundy and Oregon.
In addition to Pinot Noir, the region is also focusing on the cultivation of aromatic white grapes. This region is the only one of New Zealand's wine-producing regions with a semi-continental climate, characterized by large daily temperature differences, coolness, and extreme dryness.
The region is also home to a treasure trove of small wineries, and winery tours based in the scenic town of Queenstown are popular.
