About the "Two Rivers" Winery
Two Rivers is a winery founded in 2004 by winemaker David Clouston, who was born and raised in Marlborough.
Coming from a family of farmers that has worked the land in Marlborough for five generations, David developed an interest in wine at age 17 and studied viticulture and enology in New Zealand. He went on to gain experience with 25 vintages across the globe—including in New Zealand, France, Spain, Corsica, the U.S., and Chile—before returning to New Zealand to establish this winery.
The name "Two Rivers" is derived from the Wairau and Awatere rivers, the two major waterways of Marlborough.
In 2019, the winery began full-scale operations at its long-awaited own facility, "The Wine Studio." The presence of massive, modern stainless steel tanks alongside concrete egg fermenters and amphorae reflects a philosophy that honors classical winemaking while always embracing new techniques.
This wine, "Black Cottage," is another range from Two Rivers, with the concept of "Wines with Gusto." It is crafted to be more approachable, focusing on wines that are simply delicious.
