This Pinot Noir has a well-balanced combination of berry fruit, moderate spice, and oak smokiness. It also has the strength typical of the New World.
It goes well with dishes that use light beef, such as stir-fried thinly sliced beef and mushrooms with oyster sauce, or beef stewed with plum. It also goes well with lamb.
Well-known for its good balance
Marlborough is New Zealand's largest producer of Pinot Noir. The wine's style is characterised by a strong fruitiness.
This Pinot Noir produced by Astrolabe also has strong fruity notes of raspberry, strawberry, and dark cherry.
It has a nice balance of subtle spiciness and smoky oak barrel flavors.
However, the fruit is still the main flavor, and it has the strength that is typical of New World wines.
The grapes are a blend of Pinot Noir from multiple regions. Fermented with wild yeast and aged for 10 months in French oak. It is a very time-consuming process.
The alcohol content is 13.5%, and this alcoholic flavor provides a long-lasting, pleasant aftertaste.

About the Winery "Astrolabe"
Astorolabe is a Marlborough winery founded in 1996 by winemaker and owner Simon Waghorn, his wife and friends.
"Astrolabe" is the name of a French ship that arrived on the Marlborough coast in the early 19th century, and means "astronomical observation instrument."
When the winery was first established, they produced small quantities of wine without a label, but as their high quality gradually became known, they began releasing wines under the "Astrolabe" label in 2001. They then began exporting to the UK, and their popularity has been growing year by year.
Astrolabe is unique among New Zealand wines imported to Japan in that it uses grapes from a small region called "Kekereng" . The Sauvignon Blanc named after the region is the wine that characterizes this winery.
In addition, 80% of the wine produced is Sauvignon Blanc, and Bob Campbell MW, a leading New Zealand wine critic, has praised Astrolabe, saying, "Astrolabe is undoubtedly the pinnacle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc producers."
