A Unique Character That Never Existed Until Now
Named after "Acrux," the brightest star in the Southern Cross, this wine is an original bottling from Southern Cross, an importer of New Zealand wines.
The first impression is the freshness characteristic of Marlborough. Afterwards, a savory aroma derived from the barrel subtly wafts through the nose. This is a Sauvignon Blanc aiming for a new style that has not existed until now.
About the Vineyard
This Sauvignon Blanc uses grapes harvested from three vineyards located in the Wairau Valley. The stony alluvial gravel soil provides excellent drainage, allowing the vines to root deeply and produce small, concentrated berries.
Winemaking
Fermentation and aging are carried out using both stainless steel tanks and barrels. Aging on light lees adds thickness and creaminess to the palate.
Tasting Notes
A multi-layered aroma of green herbs, citrus, and flinty minerals. Subtle nuances of vanilla and roasted nuts from the barrel are溶け込み into the fruit, adding depth without being overpowering. Fresh acidity tightens the overall structure, leading to a balanced finish. This is a style that adds the depth of barrel aging to the classic charm of Marlborough.
Pairing Suggestions
Sea bream and octopus carpaccio, warm asparagus and bean salad, vongole bianco, pork shabu-shabu (herb lemon sauce), chicken pho.
