4 New Zealand white wines to drink in summer
①Misha's Vineyard "The Starlet" Sauvignon Blanc 2019
This wine is a Sauvignon Blanc with a strong mineral taste, and I think it would be perfect for a terrace on a summer evening.
This wine is produced in the cool climate of Central Otago.
Her lively freshness is reminiscent of a starlet, a young actress.
It has a harmonious blend of citrus fruits such as lime and herbal flavors reminiscent of chervil, with a dry aftertaste.
Good pairings include mozzarella cheese salad, sea bream or shrimp carpaccio, or fried horse mackerel.
Serve it on a slightly elegant plate and enjoy it with this wine on the terrace.
I can't get enough of it.
②Invivo x Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc 2021
The moment you pour this wine into your glass, the fruit flavors spread out in a big way, as if to say, "The strongest fruit aroma can counter the intense summer sunlight!"
This Sauvignon Blanc was created by up-and-coming producer Invivo in collaboration with American actress Sarah Jessica Parker.
The main aroma is passion fruit, with strong flavours of peach and mango also present.
This wine is very well balanced, with the flavours of ripe fruit and a pleasant bitterness.
It's great for appetizers, as well as fried foods like fried chicken and pork cutlets.
On a sunny day in the park, pairing this ice-chilled wine with some fried food from the deli section would make for a lovely afternoon.
③Fuia Gewurztraminer 2020
It's by no means flashy, but it's well-rounded and has a sophisticated feel to it.
Gewurztraminer made by the organic winery "Fire" .
It has a pleasant floral scent of rose and jasmine with a hint of lychee fruitiness.
The taste is like biting into a plum with the skin on. It has a mellow, rich flavor, but with a clean, dry aftertaste.
If you want to pair it with something, try Thai or Vietnamese food, which is perfect for the summer table, such as pad thai, fresh spring rolls, and banh mi.
You can also make Chinese dishes using star anise!
④Villa Maria Private Bin Riesling 2020
For the final bottle, I chose a private bin (basic cuvee) Riesling from Villa Maria, a reliable and trustworthy New Zealand brand that is second to none.
It has a refreshing taste of green apples and a moderate citrus acidity. It has a slight sweetness, but if you chill it well, you won't notice the sweetness.
It's casual, easy to drink, has just the right amount of body , and is a very versatile wine.
Try pairing it with sandwiches, hot dogs, pasta salads, and other easy meals.
It would be great to take it on a picnic!
