White wine (Sauvignon Blanc)
First, we chose two white wines from Sauvignon Blanc, a typical variety that accounts for approximately 75% of the country's production.
The characteristics of NZ Sauvignon Blanc can be summed up in one word: "fresh and fruity." It has a refreshing, bursting citrus aroma and the scent of fresh herbs. It is juicy, but has a clean, dry aftertaste with a slight bitterness.
The overall impression is that of a white wine with a straightforward flavor that directly conveys the bounty of nature.
It's perfect to drink under a clear blue sky. It also has a wide range of pairings, matching well with salads, fish, chicken, and pork dishes.
This set includes a selection of two different types of Sauvignon Blanc wine, an iconic variety of New Zealand wine.
Red wine (Pinot Noir)
The red wine was chosen from Pinot Noir, New Zealand's signature red wine grape variety.
Pinot Noir is known as a soft, delicate variety with little astringency, but New Zealand Pinot Noir is characterized by a stronger berry flavor and fruity taste.
At Bokumo, the restaurant Iwasu runs, even people who aren't particularly fond of red wine often tell him that they can enjoy New Zealand Pinot Noir.
For this set, we have selected two types of NZ Pinot Noir: a "soft" and a "firm" variety.
