About the Winery "Milton Vineyards"

Millton Vineyards, based in Gisborne, New Zealand's easternmost town, is a winery known as a pioneer of biodynamic farming in New Zealand.

The winery was established in 1984. In 1989, it became the first New Zealand winery to receive organic certification from BioGro, an official organic certification agency. In 2009, it also received Demeter , one of the world's strictest organic certifications.

It is also New Zealand's only member of Renaissance des Appellations, a global organic wine organisation run by renowned organic wine producer Nicolas Joly.

Currently, the winery also provides training to young producers who aspire to make wine using biodynamic farming methods, and is committed to nurturing the next generation.

Gisborne, where Milton is based, is a wine-producing region with plenty of sunshine and is one of the warmest regions in New Zealand. The main variety is Chardonnay, and the region is also known as the "Chardonnay capital" of New Zealand.

This region was not considered suitable for growing grapes for high-quality wines other than Chardonnay, but Milton produced a succession of excellent wines, including not only Chardonnay, but also Chenin Blanc , Pinot Noir , and Viognier .

The high quality of their wines and their approach to winemaking have earned them high praise from many critics and wine lovers overseas.
