About Villa Maria Winery
Villa Maria is a large winery that leads the New Zealand wine market.
Established in Auckland in 1961 by George Fistonich, it has maintained a stable supply and now exports to 60 countries.
It is also widely known for boasting the most awards in wine competitions worldwide.
Villa Maria's vineyards are located in four areas: Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, and Auckland in the North Island, and Marlborough in the South Island, with grape varieties cultivated to suit each region. Grapes harvested are vinified and aged in Auckland, Marlborough, and Hawke's Bay, with all bottling done in Auckland.
Initiating efforts in organic farming in 1999, 21 hectares of vineyards received "BioGro" certification in 2007. Currently, all vineyards are in the process of converting to organic farming. Furthermore, all Villa Maria wineries and vineyards are accredited by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand™ (SWNZ).
