About Valli Vineyards

Valli Wine was established in 1998 by legendary New Zealand winemaker Grant Taylor. The winery is named in honor of his great-grandfather, Giuseppe Valli, who immigrated from Italy.

At the heart of their winemaking is "capturing the essence of the land in every bottle." They demonstrate through their wines the fascinating way the taste of the same grape varietal can vary dramatically depending on where it's grown (climate and soil).

Valli's greatest strength lies in the collaboration of two world-class winemakers.

Grant Taylor (Founder)

A leading pioneer in New Zealand. He is the only legendary winemaker in the world to have won the unprecedented "Best Pinot Noir Award" four times at an international competition in London.

Jen Parr (Co-Winemaker)

A talented winemaker who joined in 2015. Hailing from the USA, she has extensive experience both domestically and internationally, and has even been awarded New Zealand's "Winemaker of the Year" – a truly remarkable talent.

"Four Vineyards" with Completely Different Personalities

Valli primarily produces Pinot Noir, the king of red wines, alongside white wines such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Riesling. Their four regions (vineyards) each possess entirely different characteristics.

Gibbston

Characteristics

A very cool place where grapes mature slowly over a long period.

Taste

Slow maturation results in elegant, refined, complex, and delicate flavors. A rare "orange wine" is also produced here.

Bannockburn

Characteristics

Only 20km from Gibbston, but a warmer area.

Taste

Produces powerful wines with deep color, strong fruit flavors, and moderate tannins that form the backbone.

Bendigo

Characteristics

A warm vineyard that always receives abundant sunshine and retains heat well.

Taste

Characterized by rich, full-bodied flavors, described as a "friendly beast."

Waitaki

Characteristics

A new region established in 2004. The soil is limestone, similar to Burgundy, a high-end wine region in France.

Taste

Features a gorgeous, perfume-like aroma, crisp, clear acidity, and minerality. The Chardonnay, in particular, is considered exceptional.

Valli Wine is a winery born from the fusion of New Zealand's magnificent nature and the extraordinary skill of two artisans.

Even without specialized knowledge, the biggest appeal is being able to distinctly experience the differences in terroir (the character of the land) simply by "comparing wines from different vineyards." About Central Otago

Central Otago, the southernmost wine region in New Zealand, is renowned for its Pinot Noir and is considered one of the "world's three great Pinot Noir regions," alongside Burgundy and Oregon.

Beyond Pinot Noir, the region focuses on cultivating aromatic white grapes. Central Otago is the only semi-continental climate among New Zealand's wine regions, characterized by significant daily temperature variations, and being cool and very dry.

It is also a treasure trove of small wineries, and winery tours based in the scenic town of Queenstown are popular.
