Red Berries and Translucence

The Pisa vineyard is at a high altitude, producing bright fruit. Silky texture, berry fruitiness, and spice intertwine. It has an aging potential of about 10 years.

It pairs well with lighter meat dishes and lean red meat. Duck with raspberry sauce is a classic pairing that directly embraces the wine's fruitiness.

 

About Valli Vineyards Winery

Valli Wine was founded in 1998 by legendary New Zealand winemaker Grant Taylor. The winery is named in homage to his great-grandfather, Giuseppe Valli, who immigrated from Italy.

At the heart of their winemaking is "bottling the true essence of the land." They demonstrate through their wines how the taste of the same grape variety can change dramatically depending on where it's grown (climate and soil).

Grant Taylor (Founder)

Jen Parr (Co-Winemaker)

A talented winemaker who joined in 2015. Hailing from the US, she brings extensive domestic and international experience, and has been honored with New Zealand's "Winemaker of the Year Award."

"Four Vineyards" with Distinct Personalities

Valli primarily produces the king of red wines, "Pinot Noir," along with white wines like "Chardonnay," "Pinot Gris," and "Riesling." The four regions (vineyards) they cultivate each possess entirely different characteristics.

Gibbston

Characteristics

A very cool region where grapes ripen slowly over the longest period.

Taste

Slow ripening results in elegant, refined, complex, and delicate flavors. A rare "Orange Wine" is also produced here.

Bannockburn

Characteristics

Only 20km from Gibbston, but a warmer area.

Taste

Produces powerful wines with deep color, strong fruit flavors, and well-balanced tannins that form their structure.

Bendigo

Characteristics

A warm vineyard that consistently receives abundant sunshine and retains heat well.

Taste

Characterized by a rich, full-bodied, and voluminous flavor, described as a "friendly beast."

Waitaki

Characteristics

A new region that started in 2004. The soil is limestone, similar to Burgundy, a high-end French wine region.

Taste

Features a perfumed aroma, crisp, clear acidity, and minerality. The Chardonnay, in particular, is considered superb.

About Central Otago Region

Central Otago, New Zealand's southernmost wine region, is renowned for its Pinot Noir, and is often called one of the "world's three great Pinot Noir regions," alongside Burgundy and Oregon.

Beyond Pinot Noir, the region focuses on cultivating aromatic white grape varieties. It is the only semi-continental climate among New Zealand's wine regions, characterized by large diurnal temperature variations, coolness, and extreme dryness.
