Open the door to NZ wines with these four bottles

Whether you're new to New Zealand wines or not, we want you to experience a wine that truly embodies "the taste of NZ".

With that in mind, we created this wine set.

First, we selected two white wines from the representative variety "Sauvignon Blanc," which accounts for approximately 75% of the country's production.

In a word, the characteristic of NZ Sauvignon Blanc is "fresh & fruity." You can feel the invigorating scent of bursting citrus and fresh herbs. While juicy, the aftertaste is crisp and dry, leaving a hint of pleasant bitterness.

The overall impression is that of a straightforward white wine, where the blessings of nature are directly conveyed.

It would be a perfect fit to drink under a clear blue sky. Furthermore, it boasts a wide range of pairing possibilities, matching well with salads, fish, or chicken and pork dishes.

In this set, we have selected two different types of Sauvignon Blanc, which is a symbolic presence in NZ wines.

Here's the first wine!

① Invivo X Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc

サラ・ジェシカ2021

[This fruitiness has the majesty of a king]

The fruitiness in aroma and taste is outstanding. This year, it has a slightly more complex nuance and a longer finish.

It's also getting excellent feedback at Sommelier Iwasu's restaurant, "Bokumo."

"The fruitiness is amazing!"
"I could smell this all day."

Everyone says so.

And for good reason. The moment it's poured into the glass, the aroma of passionfruit wafts out.

And when you taste it, there's an incredible refreshing sensation.

So fruity, you might mistake it for grapefruit juice. The herbal notes in the finish are also irresistible.

Please experience this wonderful aroma and taste at least once.

This citrus-rich wine pairs well with fish dishes like carpaccio and acqua pazza.

Chicken saute and tonkatsu are also good.

② Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc

ヴィラマリア ソーヴィニヨン・ブラン2022

[The unmistakable taste of a classic brand]

Compared to wine ①, the first difference is its aroma. The distinct scents of citrus fruits like lime and grapefruit are very rich.

Swirling the glass to let it breathe, you'll notice the rich, sweet aroma of subtropical fruits and herbs.

And the taste, unlike ①, is characterized by a crisp, tight acidity. The citrus fruitiness spreads in the mouth, with a grapefruit-like bitterness in the finish.

It's a very captivating taste, yet without a cloying sweetness lingering in the mouth, making it easy to pair with meals.

Its appearance, aroma, and taste all make it a prime example of NZ Sauvignon Blanc.

Next up are the red wines!

New Zealand's representative red wine grape variety is Pinot Noir. In this set, we've selected two types of Pinot Noir: "soft" and "robust."

Pinot Noir is inherently known for being soft, delicate, and low in tannins, but New Zealand-grown Pinot Noir is characterized by a slightly stronger berry fruitiness and a fruity taste.

At my restaurant, "Bokumo," even those who aren't particularly fond of red wine often say they "can deliciously drink NZ Pinot Noir."

However, Pinot Noir is a difficult variety to cultivate and is not suitable for mass production, so it tends to be expensive, which is a drawback.

Even among the Pinots handled at Bokumo Wine, those priced over 3,000 yen become the standard class.

Among these, this wine offers exceptional cost performance.

③ Dashwood Marlborough Pinot Noir

ダッシュウッド ピノ・ノワール 2020

[The definitive casual Pinot]

"Dashwood" is a very popular brand locally and is also widely exported to the US. This wine is a fruity Pinot reflecting the characteristics of "Marlborough," NZ's largest wine-producing region.

The taste is dominated by beautiful fruit flavors of cherry, cassis, and raspberry. The pleasant acidity and subtle tannins create a refreshing quality in this wine.

It's a well-balanced, easy-drinking "soft red wine" that won't fatigue your palate.

The fourth and final bottle is a Pinot Noir with a richer body and more prominent tannins compared to ③.

④ Invivo Central Otago Pinot Noir

[Meat-only!? A rich and flavorful Pinot]

This wine from "Central Otago," a region that Pinot Noir lovers worldwide are paying attention to, has a surprisingly deep color for a Pinot Noir.

It has a soft mouthfeel with flavors of cassis and American cherry, and you can also detect the savory notes of oak barrels. It has a strong umami, and even after swallowing, the umami and astringency linger in the mouth.

This "robust" type of Pinot Noir pairs exceptionally well with meat dishes! It goes very well with all kinds of chicken, pork, lamb, and beef dishes. Especially for yakiniku, barbecue, and stewed dishes, having this one bottle will elevate your dining table significantly.
