Seyfried produces high-quality Rieslings. This sweet wine has won numerous awards around the world. It has a concentrated flavor, like stewed fruit, and a long-lasting umami taste.

It's a blissful pairing with blue cheeses like Roquefort and Gorgonzola, and also goes well with white chocolate and chocolate with orange peel.

Founded by Austrian-born Mr. Seyfried, Seyfried Estate is the oldest winery in the Nelson region.

This Riesling is an extremely sweet wine made from late-harvested grapes (residual sugar = 175g/l).

This is part of the winery's signature series, the Winemaker's Collection, and only Sweet Agnes is imported to Japan.

This wine is made by fermenting the small amount of juice obtained from late-harvested grapes, and is very concentrated with a gorgeous honey aroma and flavor.

It has a predominantly sweet taste reminiscent of simmered fruit compote, but also has a clean acidity that supports the flavor of the wine.

Recommended pairings

About the Seyfried Estate Winery

Seifried Estate is the oldest winery in Nelson and a pioneer in the region.

They own 185 hectares of vineyards and produce 100,000 cases of wine per year, but despite their size, they are run by just five people: the couple and their three children.

When Austrian Hermann Seyfried and his wife Agnes founded the winery in 1973, Nelson was home to only tobacco and hop fields, not a single vineyard. However, the Hermanns believed in the potential of this land and continued to work hard, eventually achieving success in the wine business.

Following their success, many other wineries were established in Nelson, and the area has now become an essential part of New Zealand's wine-producing region.

Seyfried cultivates many Eastern European grape varieties, including those from Hermann's home region. His wines, made from German Riesling and Gewürztraminer, are especially highly acclaimed, and he also produces unique wines from his native Austria, including Würzer and Zweigelt.

In 2014, the Seyfrieds were appointed Fellows of New Zealand Winegrowers in recognition of their contributions to the grape and wine industry in New Zealand.

About Nelson

Nelson is located in the northern part of the South Island and is affectionately known as "Sunny Nelson" due to the extremely long hours of sunshine it enjoys throughout the year.

This relatively small wine-producing region is mostly made up of small wineries known as boutique wineries.

Taking advantage of the abundant sunshine, aromatic white wines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Pinot Gris are mainly produced. Pinot Noir, with its robust fruit flavor, is popular among red wines. Nelson is also famous for its hops and fruit production.
