Palliser is one of Martinborough's pioneering environmentally friendly wineries. This Pinot is produced from their own organic vineyards and has a soft, slightly bitter aftertaste, making it well-balanced.
It goes well with minced meat dishes such as hamburger steak and pasta with ragu sauce, as well as roast pork and braised pork.
About the Palliser Estate Winery
Palliser Estate is a leading winery in Martinborough, Wairarapa, that has been producing premium wines for over 20 years. The first vines were planted in 1984 and the estate was established in 1989.
Since Alan Johnson, now a leading figure in the New Zealand wine industry, took over as chief winemaker in 1991, the winery has won numerous awards both at home and abroad, including the London International Wine Challenge.
In addition, in terms of winemaking, the company is committed to sustainable activities from three perspectives: soil (natural environment), people (local community), and business (corporate responsibility), and is known as a pioneer among environmentally friendly wineries.
Palliser Estate has released two series of wines, "Estate" and "Pencarrow". "Estate" is made mainly from grapes of old vines with low yields. "Pencarrow" is reasonably priced, yet has a fruity, well-balanced, and approachable taste.
About Wairarapa
Wairarapa is located in the southeastern part of New Zealand's North Island, and is easily accessible - just an hour's drive from the capital, Wellington - making it a popular resort destination.
The subregion of this region, called Martinborough, has climate and soil conditions similar to those of Burgundy in France, and is known as one of the world's top producers of Pinot Noir.
