About the Winery: Neudorf Vineyards

Neudorf Vineyards is a family-owned winery located in Upper Moutere, Nelson.

It was established in 1978 when Tim Fin and Judy planted grapevines in the Nelson region, before it developed into a wine-producing area. They considered Upper Moutere a "special place," built a home, and cultivated the land. They named the winery "Neudorf," which means "new village" in German, and began their venture.

They cultivate grapes as naturally as possible and add nothing unnecessary during the winemaking process. They adopted sustainable farming methods early on, producing wine with consideration for the natural environment.

In addition to their own vineyards, they also use grapes from two contracted vineyards. By using grapes from nearby vineyards with different soil compositions, they create wines that highlight the unique characteristics and diversity of the land.

What brought Neudorf to global prominence was the "Best Wine in the World Tasting" held in the UK in 1993. They won the Chardonnay category at this competition, and their name became widely known worldwide.

In recent years, their Pinot Noir has also gained high praise. In 2009, they were named "New Zealand's Best Producer" in the UK's Tom Stevenson Report. Furthermore, Bob Campbell MW commented on the 2014 Moutere Chardonnay, calling it "a brilliant white Burgundy" and awarded it a perfect score of 100 points for the first time, showering it with praise.

The name Tiritiri means "to share" in Maori.

Currently, the Fin couple remains as owners, and a new generation of winemakers continues their legacy.

About the Nelson Region

Nelson is located in the northern part of the South Island and is affectionately known as "Sunny Nelson" due to its exceptionally long annual sunshine hours.

This relatively small region is primarily home to boutique, small-scale wineries.

Leveraging its abundant sunshine, it mainly produces aromatic white wines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Pinot Gris. Among red wines, Pinot Noir with rich fruitiness is popular. Nelson is also famous for its hops and fruits.
