The Main Divide is another name for the Southern Alps, a mountain range that divides New Zealand's South Island into east and west.

Main Divide, a brand that pays homage to these mountains, is the second label (a more affordable line) of the prestigious North Canterbury whisky brand Pegasus Bay.

While Pegasus Bay is made only from carefully selected grapes from their own vineyards, Main Divide keeps prices low by also using grapes purchased from nearby farms.

Residual sugar is 24g per litre. In Germany, the home of Riesling, this wine would be classified as "Liebrich: medium sweet", but in New Zealand it is a style known as "off-dry" .
