Green Songs Pinot Noir Rosé 2020

A 100% Pinot Noir rosé wine crafted by Kohei Koyama, a Japanese winemaker based in New Zealand.

The hand-harvested grapes are destemmed and given one night of skin contact.
Pressed the following day to begin fermentation, a portion undergoes carbonic maceration to fully bring out the strawberry and raspberry fruitiness of the Pinot Noir.

With a slightly deeper color, it has enough power to be enjoyed on its own, and as a rosé, it is accented by a subtle and pleasant astringency.

A bottle where sweet, floral aromas coexist with a solid core of flavor. Its soft acidity and fruit character make it an excellent partner for meals.

Due to its fruitiness and moderate astringency, it pairs well with a wide range of dishes, from light meat courses to flavorful sauces.

About the Winery: "Green Songs"

"Green Songs" is a winery run by Japanese winemaker Kohei Koyama.

After a successful business career in Tokyo and London, Kohei moved to New Zealand in 2011 to pursue winemaking.

He studied viticulture and oenology at Lincoln University, graduating as the first-ever Japanese valedictorian. He went on to gain hands-on experience in New Zealand and California before establishing his own winery in 2014 in partnership with Atamai Village in the Nelson region.

Atamai Village is a community where orchards and farms are operated cooperatively with the common goal of living with as little impact on the environment as possible.

Kohei also serves as the viticulturist and winemaker for "URLAR," a winery in Gladstone in the Wairarapa region, owned by Yoichiro Nishi, the 8th generation head of Kagoshima's Nishi Sake Brewery.

Currently based primarily in Gladstone, Kohei is further expanding the Green Songs lineup and broadening the scope of his winemaking. We look forward to his future endeavors.

About the Wairarapa Region

Wairarapa is located in the southeastern part of New Zealand's North Island and is popular as a resort area, partly due to its easy accessibility—about a one-hour drive from the capital, Wellington.

The sub-region of Martinborough within this area is known for having climate and soil conditions very similar to Burgundy, France, and is recognized as one of the world's top-class Pinot Noir production areas.
