Rounded Fruitiness

The "GV Collection" series blends grapes selected from vineyards across multiple sub-regions owned by Gibbston Valley.
This Pinot Gris offers a rich fruitiness combined with complex aromatics.
The grapes used are Pinot Gris cultivated in three vineyards within the "Bendigo" sub-region.
After being hand-picked, the grapes are whole-bunch pressed. Half of the juice undergoes cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks, while the other half ferments in oak barrels.
The aromatic and fruity characteristics of the cool-fermented wine are balanced with the rich depth of the barrel-fermented wine, resulting in a complex and full-flavored wine.
With a gentle acidity, you can enjoy flavors reminiscent of compoted fruits such as plums, apricots, and pears.
A mineral finish is present, making for an overall dry yet rounded taste.
This wine pairs perfectly with seafood appetizers such as sea bream or smoked salmon salads, or marinated scallops and celery.
It also goes well with oil-based pasta dishes like peperoncino, or shrimp and mushroom ajillo.
About Gibbston Valley Winery

Gibbston Valley Winery bravely embarked on winemaking in 1980, when everyone believed the region was "too cold for grape cultivation."

This photo shows the Gibbston Valley, the east-west extending valley in Central Otago that gives the winery its name. It's clear that the valley was formed by river erosion.
With winds blowing through this valley, the area experiences a significantly cool climate.
Central Otago, where Gibbston Valley is located, now boasts world-renowned wineries such as Felton Road and Prophets Rock. However, Gibbston Valley Winery was the pioneer that first recognized the potential of this land and played a groundbreaking role.
Within a few years of its establishment, the winery successfully produced superb red and white wines, establishing Central Otago, previously an uncharted territory, as a recognized wine region.
As a pioneer in this region, Gibbston Valley Winery has extensive experience in cultivating and producing various grape varieties. Every year, it releases high-quality wines that leverage the cool climate, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Blanc.
About the Central Otago Region
Central Otago, New Zealand's southernmost wine region, is renowned for its Pinot Noir and is considered one of the "world's three great Pinot Noir regions," alongside Burgundy and Oregon.
Beyond Pinot Noir, the region also focuses on cultivating aromatic white grapes. This is the only wine region in NZ with a semi-continental climate, characterized by significant daily temperature variations, coolness, and extreme dryness.
It is also a treasure trove of small-scale wineries, and winery tours based in the scenic town of Queenstown are very popular.
