Cloudy Bay, the prestigious winery that has made New Zealand wine famous around the world, produces this sparkling wine using the Champagne method. It is aged in the bottle for two years and has a fruity taste that is typical of New Zealand.

It can be used for a wide range of dishes, including Japanese, Western, Chinese, and ethnic. It is also delicious when paired with fresh fruits such as mango and pineapple!

The orthodox method of Champagne production

This authentic sparkling wine from Marlborough is made using traditional Champagne methods, aged for eight months in French oak barrels and then for two years in the bottle for secondary fermentation.

The distinctive aroma of Champagne is often associated with the bread "brioche," and this wine also has a similar aroma. It has a golden, fragrant aroma reminiscent of high-quality bread rich in butter.

There are also hints of honey and woody notes.

It has a creamy and rich aroma, but the overall impression is a little fresher than champagne, with a striking apple-like fresh fruitiness.

When you put it in your mouth, you can taste the strong aroma that you sensed in the aroma. At the same time, you can feel the moderate acidity and fruity flavor, making it a very gorgeous taste.

The aftertaste is dry and refreshing, so it would also make a good aperitif.

This is also recommended for those who usually drink champagne but would like to try a different sparkling wine for once .

New Zealand is a country that makes wines that emphasize the flavor of fruit, and I think this sparkling wine really captures that characteristic.

Recommended pairings

Various dishes

It is also suitable as an aperitif and can be paired with a wide range of dishes, from appetizers to meat dishes.

I think this wine is especially suitable for celebratory occasions!

Sushi is also recommended.

Sushi

It is said that pairing sushi can be difficult because the wine that goes well with it varies greatly depending on the type of topping, but I think that this type of sparkling wine made using the Champagne method can be used with a relatively wide range of toppings.

Cloudy Bay's technical director, Jim White, said, "I traveled to Japan and brought this wine to a sushi restaurant and paired it with the sushi, and it was a great match."

About the Cloudy Bay Winery

cloudybay_logo

Cloudy Bay was founded in 1985 by David Hohnen, the founder of the Australian winery Cape Mentelle. It is one of the earliest wineries to establish itself in the Marlborough region, known as New Zealand's largest wine-producing region.

cloudybay_sb

Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc was one of a kind at the time, combining the aromas of passion fruit and tropical fruits with the aromas of herbs and grasses.

Its lively style, which makes the most of the characteristics of the Marlborough region, is very unique and has been called "the wine that woke the world up to white wine," and it is highly regarded as a wine that has raised the global status of New Zealand wine.

Currently under the umbrella of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the company continues to produce high-quality wines and contributes to the development of New Zealand wine.

By the way, Cloudy Bay's name quickly spread around the world after it formed a partnership with the famous champagne maker, Veuve Clicquot.

About Marlborough

Marlborough is the heart of New Zealand's wine region.

Marlborough has ideal natural conditions for grape growing, such as abundant sunshine and large temperature differences throughout the day, and produces over 80% of New Zealand's wine.

Among them, Sauvignon Blanc, characterized by its crisp acidity and overflowing fruitiness, boasts an overwhelming production volume and is loved worldwide for its unique character. In red wine, Pinot Noir, with its rich berry fruit flavor, is also popular.
