Cloudy Bay is the brand that most contributed to spreading NZ wine around the world. Their Chardonnay is also of a high standard, with fruit and oak elements coexisting in good balance. The finish is also long.

An excellent Chardonnay from a prestigious winery

Chardonnay is the most popular white grape variety in the world. In New Zealand, it boasts the second-highest production after Sauvignon Blanc, the country's flagship variety.
Chardonnay is generally known as a variety with little inherent character in the grape itself. However, in NZ, where many wines have strong fruit flavors, producers use oak to create complex and exquisitely balanced wines.
The Chardonnay from the prestigious Cloudy Bay is brilliantly balanced. The fruitiness and oak aromas are harmonized extremely well.
The acidity is somewhat mellow, and it has a firm volume on the palate. The aroma of fresh fruits like white peach and apricot, combined with the pleasant vanilla and roasted nut notes from the oak, are very appealing.
According to Cloudy Bay's资料, it can be aged for 10 years, but it's also delicious to drink now.
Don't chill it too much; the best temperature is around 10℃ to 12℃. I think you'll be able to enjoy the rich aroma.

About the winery "Cloudy Bay"

Cloudy Bay is a winery established in 1985 by David Hohnen, founder of the Australian winery Cape Mentelle. It is one of the earliest wineries to establish itself in the Marlborough region, known as a huge wine-producing area in NZ.

Cloudy Bay's Sauvignon Blanc was unique at the time, combining aromas of passionfruit and tropical fruits with herbal and grassy notes.
Its lively style, which leverages the characteristics of the Marlborough terroir, is highly distinctive and has been hailed as "the wine that awakened the world to white," receiving high praise for elevating the global standing of NZ wine.
Currently, under the umbrella of "Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton," it continues to produce high-quality wines and contribute to the development of NZ wine.
Incidentally, Cloudy Bay's name rapidly spread worldwide after it formed a partnership with the famous Champagne maker Veuve Clicquot.
About the Marlborough region
Marlborough is the central wine-producing region of NZ.
With abundant sunshine and large temperature variations throughout the day, the natural conditions are favorable for grape cultivation, and Marlborough produces over 80% of NZ's wine.
Among these, Sauvignon Blanc, characterized by its crisp acidity and abundant fruitiness, boasts overwhelming production and is widely loved worldwide as a unique character. For red wines, Pinot Noir, with its appealing rich berry fruit flavors, is popular.
