Atarangi means "new beginning." This is one of New Zealand's finest Pinot Noirs. 35% whole-cluster fermentation is spontaneous, using wild yeast. It pursues a complex and elegant flavor.

The perfect pairing for this captivating wine is roast duck or beef. It also goes well with balsamic sauce or Japanese soy sauce.

About the Ata Rangi Winery

Ata Rangi is a winery founded by Clive Patton in 1980. It is one of the oldest wineries in New Zealand and is widely known as a pioneer in Martinborough.

Many critics have praised the winery as being among the top five in New Zealand, and its Pinot Noir, which comes from a vineyard that "has its roots in Romanée-Conti," has won numerous awards both domestically and internationally.

They are also committed to producing sustainable wines that are kind to nature, and do not use any pesticides, chemical fertilizers, herbicides, etc. Instead, they use organic and partially biodynamic farming methods, such as spraying natural soil, wildflowers, and synthetic compounds.

The winery's name, "Ata Rangi," comes from the Maori word for "dawn sky" or "new beginning," reflecting their respect for the land and their work.

About the Wairarapa region

Wairarapa is located in the southeastern part of New Zealand's North Island, and is a popular resort area with easy access, just about an hour's drive from the capital, Wellington.

The Martinborough subregion in this region has climate and soil conditions very similar to those of Burgundy in France, and is known as one of the world's top producers of Pinot Noir.
