Prime Minister Ardern also helps search for owner of lost stuffed animal at airport; it becomes popular at airport

A stuffed rabbit that had become separated from its owner was discovered at the airport in Hamilton, a city about an hour and a half drive south of Auckland on New Zealand's North Island.

A Facebook post made by an airport staff member trying to find the owner of the item has become a hot topic. Has the owner been found?

An adventure through the airport

The stuffed animal was discovered on the airport's observation deck on January 28, and a post was quickly made to Hamilton Airport's Facebook page in an attempt to find its owner.

A small rabbit missed its flight. It seems to have been a very loved rabbit, so we brought it to our office and are looking after it until we can find its owner. If you are the owner, please call us.

As the post showed, the rabbit quickly became popular with the airport staff. From the next day, photos of the rabbit relaxing and enjoying itself at the airport were posted.

This little bunny is feeling totally at home at the airport! He's been roaming all over the airport this morning and this afternoon. The airport fire brigade has arranged for him to ride in the fire truck. He'll be helping us out in the parking lot later. We hope he has lots of adventures before he goes home! He only has one eye and a tag with the letter W sewn on it, so we named him Wink.

The airport staff named the one-eyed rabbit Wink, but later discovered that the eye was just buried under his fur! Wink continues his adventures around the airport.

I got a ride in a fire engine...

Also in airport bars.

It also appeared on Prime Minister Ardern's social media!

Wink also happened to meet New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who happened to be using Hamilton Airport!
Prime Minister Ardern introduced Wink on her social media accounts and called for help in finding its owner.

I arrived in Hamilton this morning. I had a meeting and was allowed to use the airport conference room. Before leaving the airport, I was introduced to a little rabbit. He was found in the airport on the 28th of January and has been looking for his owner ever since. Anyone with small children can understand how precious these little cute things (like stuffed toys) are to children. Can you help us find Wink's owner? (I hope his name, safety jacket, mask and ID card are not confusing to his owner as they were made for him to use in the airport!)

Wink looks so cute with his special mask, safety jacket, ID card, and even a headset!

Three weeks since I discovered Wink...

It had been more than three weeks since the wink was discovered, but perhaps due to Prime Minister Ardern's spreading power, its owner was finally found just two days after she posted it!

Wink's real name is Noonoo. It belongs to a boy named Borden. And it turns out that Noonoo has a twin rabbit!

This is the latest information on Wink as of February 21st. Updates will continue to be posted on the Hamilton Airport Facebook page.

The little rabbit's great adventure, which even got the Prime Minister involved, was heartwarming news that was so typical of New Zealand!
